There's another survey tonight whipping up a fuss about the declining proportion of the population believing in "man-made" (sic) climate change.
It doesn't matter! IF it is happening, it is futile to allocate "blame". There is an implicit assumption that if "we" caused it, "we" can sort it out.
Not so.

We like to believe that it is man-made, but not by us. So until everyone else stops doing whatever it is that's perceived as causing the problem, we can all put off thinking about it too much. My mum thinks we're kidding ourselves if we believe we're that important and I agree with her; we've only been on the planet five minutes and if we gas ourselves in the end, nothing else will care.
