• And this about grammatical errors, and in the linked paper, which is indeed a classic, the hypocrisy of the language "mavens" as Pinker calls them. The linked paper is indeed great fun (in a nerdy way), but what is really interesting about this piece is that the topic is a regular concern in the general US higher education press and blogosphere, and very rarely appears over here. We merely bemoan our students' lack of writing skills, and provide individual remedial services; for them, composition is a routine and obligatory freshman requirement...

It's been fun collecting this ("curating" is the in-word)--I think I'll carry on....
