On referencing--yet again

The heading link is to an interesting argument calling for a less obsessional approach to citation and referencing in student work, because it distracts attention from content and style. As might be expected, it generates a lot of comments.

Overheard today: an administrator is showing a new colleague around---

"We call this the HR corridor, because that's where their office is..."

...and two dance studios, a gymnasium, several seminar and music practice rooms, and a dozen or so academics' offices.
